How the figures are worked out

Interest is simple interest at maturity, before tax: amount × rate ÷ 100 × months ÷ 12. The total at maturity is the deposit plus that interest, and the monthly figure is the interest spread evenly over the term. A bank may calculate on actual days, pay interest along the way, or compound it, so its own figure can differ a little.

Rates are the ones each bank publishes in its Consumer Data Right feed, read once a day; the methodology says which products count. A bank may pay a different rate on a particular balance tier, an online-only product, or when interest is paid monthly rather than at maturity, so confirm the rate with the bank before you commit. Interest is assessable income: see tax on term deposit interest.

For every bank at every term side by side, use the leaderboard; for one bank’s history, pick it from the banks index.

Please note: the savings figures on this page are estimates only and may not reflect the return you actually receive. Actual returns vary with tax, fees, the interest payment frequency and any change the bank makes to a rate before you open the account. Rates are the bank’s own published Consumer Data Right figures and may differ for particular balance tiers or online-only products. Always read the product disclosure statement, confirm the rate with the bank, and consider your own circumstances. Nothing here is financial advice or a recommendation.
